SBI Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the renowned State Bank Group, has recently announced the commencement of applications for the 12th batch of its SBI Youth for India Fellowship program. This initiative provides an unparalleled opportunity for young individuals to contribute meaningfully to rural development across India.

The SBI Youth for India Fellowship program invites enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about making a tangible difference in the rural area of India. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities by fostering sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective applicants can submit their applications online through the official website, youthforindia.org/register. To be eligible for the fellowship, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Nationality: The applicant must be an Indian citizen, or a citizen of Nepal/Bhutan, or hold an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.

  • Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 and 32 years of age as of the program commencement date.

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, with completion before October 1, 2024.

For OCI candidates, it's advised to initiate the OCI registration process well in advance as it may take 1-3 months for completion.

Application Process

The application process consists of two stages:

  1. Registration & Online Assessment: Applicants need to fill out the registration form and undertake an online assessment. This assessment provides candidates with the opportunity to express their motivations, perspectives, and intentions towards joining the fellowship.

  2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the first stage will undergo a personal interview. This phase evaluates applicants based on their personal characteristics and suitability for the fellowship role, focusing beyond academic qualifications and work experience.

By encouraging youth to work in rural areas, the program aims to diminish the rural-urban divide and foster inclusive growth nationwide. This holistic approach is envisioned to create resilient communities capable of addressing various social, economic, and environmental challenges.

The SBI Youth for India Fellowship presents a unique opportunity for young individuals to start a transformative journey towards rural development, thereby contributing to a brighter and more prosperous future for India.
