Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, called a meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee on Crop Insurance (SLCCCI) to discuss the execution of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Secretary gave the meeting of the SLCCCI the go-ahead to implement the PMFBY and RWBCIS crop insurance schemes in the UT of JK.
The committee also authorized the operating procedures to be used for the J&K to successfully implement these Schemes.
The Paddy, Maize, Oilseed, Wheat, Apple, Saffron, Mango, and Litchi crops will all be covered under the Scheme.
Dr. Mehta underlined the importance of giving farmers insurance protection against crop loss due to a variety of weather calamities.

Farmer yields are insured by the Pradhan Mantri fasal bima yojana (PMFBY), which Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced on February 18, 2016.
It was created in accordance with the One Nation-One Scheme philosophy and was intended to replace the two previous programmes, the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and the Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS), by combining their finest elements and eliminating their flaws.
