During the forthcoming kharif season, the State Government has agreed to provide 25.5 lakh metric tonne fertilisers to the farm sector. The state currently has 6.6 LMT of fertiliser on hand. 3.73 LMT of these are urea storage, with the other 2.92 LMT being other fertilisers.

S. Niranjan Reddy, the Agriculture Minister, required the officials in charge to take action ahead of time to ensure that farmers had access to fertilisers. Officials should remember the challenges that the previous kharif season brought.

Measures should be taken to transfer current Markfed buffer stocks to primary agriculture cooperative societies, thus increasing their storage capacity. Efforts should be taken to ensure that the number of stocks available at the primary level does not decrease.

The Minister needed the new godowns developed in Wanaparthy, Khammam and Warangal which would be operational in a fortnight for capacity of fertilisers. Authorities should move the compost to Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and different locale in front of the initiation of the period.

He coordinated the Agriculture dept. principal secretary B. Janardhan Reddy to guarantee vaccination of staff of Agriculture and unified offices. Officials and employees from the department should work together to ensure that there are no problems with fertilizer delivery to farmers.
