Five Innovative Farmers Felicitated at Rabi Kisan Mela Held in Palwal

Shri Mehar Chand Gehlot, Vice-Chairman of Haryana Livestock Development Board and Member, IMC, ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Karnal inaugurated the ‘Rabi Kisan Mela’ organized by the ICAR-CSSRI. The Mela was organized in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Haryana at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Stadium, Palwal.  Gehlot stressed on the usage of improved agricultural technologies by the farmers that can enhance their farm incomes. He also urged for the close collaboration among the different stakeholders including the researchers, farmers, developmental agencies and agro-industries for ensuring the sustainable and profitable agricultural production.

Gehlot stressed on the usage of improved agricultural technologies by the farmers that can enhance their farm incomes. He also urged for the close collaboration among the different stakeholders including the researchers, farmers, developmental agencies and agro-industries for ensuring the sustainable and profitable agricultural production.

He appreciated the various Central Government’s initiated schemes, such as Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana that aims to empower the farmers and rural communities.

Earlier, Dr. P. C. Sharma, Director, ICAR-CSSRI and Chairman of the Rabi Kisan Mela urged the farmers for increasingly adopting the high income generating enterprises like horticulture, livestock, fishery and food processing to get good returns. He stressed on sensitizing the farmers for availing the benefits being provided under the various recent government schemes that aim to double the farmers’ income by the Year - 2022. The various improved technologies for salinity management, crop diversification, integrated farming, horticultural crops and mushroom cultivation, etc., were showcased during the Mela.

Five Innovative Farmers were felicitated on the occasion. About 2600 farmers participated in the Kisan Mela.
