During the visit of the Indian delegation to Israel, a Round Table meeting was held on 11-05-2022 in Parliament House, Jerusalem between Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Narender Singh Tomar, and Agriculture & Rural Development Minister of Israel, Oded Forer.
Keeping in mind the scope and potential of agriculture development in both countries, the Minister discussed various issues related to modern agro techniques, capacity building, transfer of knowledge know-how, and support in the fields of agriculture, water management, environment, and rural development with the Minister of Agriculture, Israel, and other stakeholders.
MASHAV's agricultural cooperation programmes and other stakeholders' professional training activities in India were lauded during the interaction.
The Minister stated that the Indian Government must investigate the possibility of adopting MASHAV's activities in India, with a focus on capacity building and knowledge transfer, for which Centres of Excellence will be established in each state.
The discussions held during the Indian delegation's meeting with Israel's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development were extremely beneficial to India's agricultural development.
Prior to that, Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar met with experts from these companies to discuss various developmental aspects of modern farming practices.
The main topics of discussion during the visit were nursery practices, planting material for fruit trees and vineyards, post-harvest technology, greenhouse farming, micro and smart irrigation systems, and improved dairy and poultry farming.
