PM Garib Kalyan Yojana: How Farmers can apply to avail all the Benefits amid 2.0 Lockdown?

As you know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the lockdown in the country till 3 May to prevent the spread of coronavirus. But in such a situation the poor people of the country have to face many problems including employment and ration. The income of people doing petty work has stopped.

As you know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the lockdown in the country till 3 May to prevent the spread of coronavirus. But in such a situation the poor people of the country have to face many problems including employment and ration. The income of people doing petty work has stopped. 

Amid the 2.0 nationwide lockdown and India’s battle against the global pandemic COVID-19, the Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced Rs 1.70 Lakh Crore relief package on Thursday under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana for the poor to help them fight the battle against Coronavirus. Keeping in mind the condition of daily wager, farmers and worker’s condition amid the nationwide lockdown, the government has decided to allow relief packages to the poor.  

Under this package, financial assistance is being given to the beneficiaries of PM Kisan, Jan Dhan Yojana etc. Let us know how to apply the benefits of this scheme. 

Economic Relief to 32.32 Crore People  

The central government has given money to 32.32 crore people under the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana 

A total amount of Rs 29,352 crore has been allocated to the beneficiaries as of April 13. At the same time, under the Jan Dhan Yojana, the government has sent Rs 9930 crore to the bank accounts of 19.86 crore women account holders. The government also announced assistance to farmers during the lockdown where Rs 14946 crore has been sent to 7.47 crore farmers under PM Kisan Yojana.  

On the other hand, the government sends Rs 6000 in three instalments to the farmers in a year. 

Moreover, pensions sent to crores of people as part of this scheme says the official. 

At least 2.82 crore people have been sent a pension of Rs 1405 crores including widow pension, pension amount to senior citizens and disabled persons, which are sent directly to their bank accounts. Also, labourers working in the construction sector have also been helped. Moreover, financial assistance of Rs. 3071 has been given to 2.17 crore such labourers. 

Benefits of PM Garib Kalyan Yojana under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana:

  • The first instalment of Rs 2,000 due in 2020-21 will be front-loaded and paid in April 2020 itself under the PM KISAN Yojana.

  • It would cover 8.7 crore farmers

 Cash transfers Under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana:

Help to Poor:

  • A total of 20.40 crores PMJDY women account-holders would be given an ex-gratia of Rs 500 per month for the next three months.

 Gas cylinders:

  • Under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, gas cylinders, free of cost, would be provided to 8 crore poor families for the next three months.

 Help to low wage earners in organised sectors:

  • Wage-earners below Rs 15,000 per month in businesses having less than 100 workers are at risk of losing their employment.

  • Under this package, the government proposes to pay 24 per cent of their monthly wages into their PF accounts for the next three months.

  • This would prevent disruption in their employment.

 Support for senior citizens (above 60 years), Widows and Divyang:

  • There are around 3 crore aged widows and people in Divyang category who are vulnerable due to economic disruption caused by COVID-19.

  • The government will give them Rs 1,000 to tide over difficulties during the next three months.

How to Apply for PM Garib Kalyan Yojana?

The beneficiary of PM Kisan and Ujjawala Yojana will get a direct benefit from this Yojana. Amid the lockdown, the government has not started any other process to apply PM Garib Kalyan Yojana.
