Last week the government had extended the deadline to complete eKYC under the PM Kisan Nidhi to 22 May 2022. But, the e-KYC option is no longer functional/operational on the official website of PM Kisan after the extension.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a Central government scheme with 100 percent funding from the Government of India. The money is directly transferred into the bank accounts of farmers.

What PM Kisan Website says

As per information on the PM Kisan portal, eKYC is MANDATORY for PMKISAN Registered Farmers. Please contact your nearest CSC centers for Biometric authentication. Aadhar based eKYC through OTP Authentication has been temporarily suspended. And the deadline of eKYC for all the PMKISAN beneficiaries has been extended till 31st May 2022.

eKYC is mandatory for 11th installment

The beneficiaries of PM Kisan yojana have to update the eKYC if they want the next or 11th installment of Rs. 2000. Under the scheme, the central government provides income support of 6,000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each to the farmers.

The scheme is linked with the Aadhaar details of the beneficiaries and the database contains important details of farmers and all members of their families whose names appear in the land records.

In a few North Eastern States of India, the land ownership rights are community-based, and it may not be possible to evaluate the quantum of landholder farmers. In such States or regions, an alternate implementation mechanism for eligibility of the farmers would be developed and approved by the Committee of the Union Ministers of the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER); the Ministry of Rural Development (Department of Land Resources); Union Agriculture Minister along with the concerned State Chief Ministers or their Ministerial representatives, based on the proposal by the concerned North Eastern States.

Meanwhile in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Narendra Singh Tomar, Union agriculture minister said that the government is taking all necessary steps to implement PM Kisan scheme in all the states/Union Territories, including West Bengal.
