PMFBY: Farmers Have One More Chance to Take Benefit of Crop Insurance Scheme; Apply Before 31 August

The state government of Madhya Pradesh has given another opportunity to the farmers to take advantage of PM Fasal Bima Yojana to ensure crop protection which occurs due to various reasons. The government has said that farmers can submit Crop Insurance Premium till 31 August.

In midst of the Coronavirus crisis, the state government of Madhya Pradesh has given another opportunity to the farmers to take advantage of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) to ensure crop protection. The government said that farmers can submit Crop Insurance Premium till 31 August. Moreover, the State Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel has released this information on Sunday and appealed to the farmers to avail this scheme as soon as possible. 

Due to corona, the last date for depositing premium in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been extended till 31 August.

State Agriculture Minister Asked Farmers to Deposit Premium by 31 August

The Agriculture Minister said that the farmers are facing serious trouble in depositing the premium for the crop insurance scheme due to the spread of corona pandemic.

In view of the current scenario where the state has crossed more than 60,000 corona positive cases, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has decided to extend the date of depositing premium from August 17 to August 31. Farmers can deposit the premium of crop insurance scheme till this date.

Agro Climatic Zone 

Government said that applications have been sought from insurance companies by dividing the state into 11 clusters based on agro climatic zones to provide benefits to the farmers. The earlier government of the state had increased the risk coverage, scale of finance to 75 percent, which has been increased to 100 percent. This will cover additional risk of Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 1,500 crore for the farmers.

Moreover, the state government has assured the farmers that they can file a complaint of crop failure within 72 hours at the local agriculture office or Crop Insurance App.
