You all must have seen tall green trees on the sides of the roadways and parks. Eucalyptus globulus (Safeda) trees make up the majority of these trees. People disregard these trees, although they are quite useful.

Their cultivation may bring in lakhs and crores of rupees in profits. Its most notable trait is that growing these plants does not need any hard work. Moreover, cultivation of Eucalyptus is quite economical. These trees do not need a certain climate and can be cultivated in any location.

Eucalyptus oil is a volatile fragrant oil found in the leaf glands of numerous species, including the black peppermint tree and Tasmanian blue gum. Its primary application is in medicine, and it is a component of expectorants and inhalants.

Eucalyptus Cultivation: Cost & Profit Details

The tree doesn’t require much care or maintenance. About 3000 plants can be planted in one hectare. You can get these plants for Rs 5-7 from the nurseries. So, the total cost of the saplings will be around Rs. 21000. Adding miscellaneous expenses total cost of production may be around Rs 25000.

After 4 - 5 years, about 400 kg of wood can be obtained from each tree.

This means about 12, 00,000 kg of wood will be obtained from 3000 trees. This wood can be sold in the market at a price of Rs. 6 per kg. If you sell it, you can earn around Rs. 72 lakhs. If some other expenses are deducted (Land rent, maintenance costs etc.,) even then, you can earn at least Rs. 60 lakhs in 4 - 5 years.

Hard boards, pulp, furniture, and boxes are all made from these trees. It is grown in various Indian states, including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab. A tree's height typically ranges from 40 to 80 metres. Keep a gap of one and a half metres between these trees whenever they are planted.
