State Level Farmers’ Fair-cum-Farmers’-Scientists-Interaction Held in Guwahati

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - VI, Guwahati, Assam organized the two-day “State Level Farmers’ Fair-cum-Farmers’-Scientists-Interaction” on the theme entitled “Farmers’ Prosperity through doubling farmers’ income” at the Horticultural Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Kahikuchi, Guwahati from 26th to 27th February 2020.

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - VI, Guwahati, Assam organized the two-day “State Level Farmers’ Fair-cum-Farmers’-Scientists-Interaction” on the theme entitled “Farmers’ Prosperity through doubling farmers’ income” at the Horticultural Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Kahikuchi, Guwahati from 26th to 27th February 2020.   

The Chief Guest, Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, and Town & Country Planning, Government of Assam highlighted the integrated agriculture’s role in doubling the farmers’ income. The Minister also outlined the various schemes launched by the Government of Assam to enhance the productivity and income of the small and marginal farmers.

The Special Guest, Queen Oja, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Guwahati highlighted the Government of India’s new schemes namely - Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, etc., for the farmers’ benefits. She also emphasized on mushroom production and post-harvest value-addition and packaging, etc., that can play an important role in enhancing the farmers’ prosperity. The senior officials ICAR Institutes, State Government Departments and Assam Agricultural University also participated in the program. Around 2,000 farmers from the various Districts of Assam participated in the exhibition and Farmers’-Scientists’-Interaction Session organized during the occasion.
