Training Program on “Safe and Responsible Use of Pesticides in Agriculture” Held in Gujarat

Pesticides help farmers to produce more and ensure abundant harvest for India. This also keeps the food affordable. But right use of pesticides is also important. Therefore, farmers must be given training on correct usage of pesticides in their crops. Keeping this in view, a training program was inaugurated by Dr. Arun Patel, Director, Extension Education Institute, Anand Agriculture University, Anand in Gujarat and was attended by progressive farmers of the region. These farmers will further train at least 10 cultivators of their village.

Keeping this in view, a training program was inaugurated by Dr. Arun Patel, Director, Extension Education Institute, Anand Agriculture University, Anand in Gujarat and was attended by progressive farmers of the region. These farmers will further train at least 10 cultivators of their village.

Training session named “Safe & Responsible use of Pesticide” was led by Dr. Sandeep Singh, who is the Principal Scientist, Farinsys research. When addressing the farmers, Dr. Singh said that “PMFAI has a long history of creating awareness among farmers in India about the safe, responsible and sustainable use of pesticides.” 

Following were the main focus area of training: 

Importance of Label instructions 

Selecting the correct nozzle

Do’s and Don’t during pesticide spraying

Cleaning of spraying equipment

Importance of PPE and correct way of wearing it

Pesticides should be adopted under IPM

Safe disposal of containers etc

More than hundred farmers attended the training program. In addition one set of free PPE kit was given to every farmer for their usage to promote PPE.
