On Monday, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy presented the first tranche of funds to YSR Rythu Bharosa during a ceremony in Ganapavaram, West Godavari district.
Rs 3,758 crore was distributed to farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa - PM Kisan Scheme yesterday. This is for the 4th year in a row that the state government is extending the benefits to the farmers. The 1st instalment of Rs 5,500 has been deposited directly into farmers' bank accounts.
Jagan said, “The state government is all set to provide assistance to farmers before the start of the sowing season as it has done for the last 3 years, as promised, regardless of financial difficulties”.
He said, under the scheme, Rs 7,500 will be deposited as the first installment in May, Rs 4,000 in October & another Rs 2,000 in January as the second and third installments. CM said “We are giving Rs.7500 before kharif, Rs.4000 during harvest, while Rs 2000 when the farmers return home”.
More than 50 lakh farmers would receive Rs 3,758 crore at a cost of Rs 7,500 each, according to the chief minister. Since they came to power, Jagan claimed, Rs 23,875 crore has been put directly in farmers' accounts under the Rythu Bharosa Scheme. During the three-year period, he added, Rs 1,10,093 crore was distributed to farmers through different initiatives. In these three years, he claimed, there was no need to classify a single mandal in the state as a drought zone. He also stated that every reservoir in the state had been completely filled on schedule.
The CM stated that this was the first time in the country's history that compensation for agricultural loss occurred during the same season. The government also pays the farmers' insurance premiums on their behalf. The e-crop is brought inside the scope of insurance as soon as it is registered in RBKs.
He stated that in order to provide such assistance to farmers, there must be more knowledge of agriculture, farmers, and their situation. Jagan criticised the previous administration for failing to do so, claiming that his government does.
