Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Science University's Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education organised two training courses for dairy and pig farmers.

The training courses were attended and completed by 11 dairy and 14 pig farmers.

Dr. Rajesh Kasrija and Dr. Y S Jadoun coordinated the dairy farming course, while Dr. Jaswinder Singh and Dr. Amandeep Singh coordinated the pig farming course. The trainees were given both theoretical and practical information about starting a business in dairy and pig farming.

Important topics covered including the importance of dairy and pig farming, animal breeds, housing, breeding techniques, feeding management, shed designs, weather management, vaccination protocols, diseases and their prevention, value addition of milk and meat, and dairy and pig farming economics, among others.

Dr. R. K. Sharma, Prof-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, interacted with the trainees and advised them to do proper planning in relation to land, breeding, and balanced feeding, while emphasising the use of Indigenous herbal preparations rather than high doses of antibiotics.

The trainees were taken to PAU's Integrated Farming System (IFS) Unit. Farmers were made aware of and encouraged to use this Integrated Farming System model to maximise the benefits of available resources and income throughout the year.

Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Extension Education, presided over the training's final session. The function's Chief Guest was Dr. S. K. Uppal, Dean of Postgraduate Studies.

Dr. Brar interacted with the trainees and encouraged them to use scientific methods. He emphasised the importance of pursuing dairy and pig farming as a business venture. He also emphasised the importance of adding value to milk and meat products in order to generate more revenue.
Dr. Uppal advised farmers to seek as much assistance from university experts as possible and to implement scientific management practises in order to increase the profitability of dairy and pig farming.

Certificates were awarded to the trainees. Dr. Parminder Singh, proposed the vote of thanks to the participants.
