Eclipse at 5:30 PM in Delhi: Find Out More

A total lunar eclipse will take place on 8th November 2022 (17 Kartika, 1944 Saka Era). The eclipse is visible from everywhere in India at the time of moonrise. However, the beginning of the partial and total phases of the eclipse is not visible from any places in India as the phenomena will be in progress before moonrise. 

This eclipse will be visible in the region covering South America, North America, Australia, Asia, the North Atlantic Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean. The eclipse will begin at 14 hr 39 min IST. The total eclipse will start at 15 hr 46 min IST. The ending time of totality is 17h 12m IST and the ending time of partial phase is 18h 19m IST. 

For the cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai & Bengaluru, at the time of the moonrise, the partial eclipse after the end of totality will be in progress and for the above cities, the duration from the Moonrise time up to the end of the partial eclipse will be 50 min, 18 min, 40 min, and 29 min respectively, as per the Ministry of Earth Science.

What to do:

  • Use Tulsi (Basil) leaf in all edible items in your house.

  • After the eclipse is over, take a bath in the holy water of Ganga.

  • Donate things like old clothes and grains to poor people.

  • Meditate during the time of the eclipse.

  • Chant mantras, read holy books and try to worship God mentally as much as possible.

What to avoid:

  • Avoid carrying sharp objects during the eclipse.

  • Avoid eating or drinking anything during the time of the eclipse.

  • Avoid going outside, especially if you are pregnant as it may prove to be harmful to the foetus.

  • Avoid looking at the moon directly, try to avoid looking at the moon at all during the time of the eclipse.
