Access to science & technology is key to augment IPM cumin & IPM Isabgol production

Emphasizing on the importance of blending traditional knowledge and modern techniques to augment IPM cumin production, the DBT-SABC Biotech Kisan Hub, Jodhpur in collaboration with ICAR-NRCSS, Ajmer, Spices Board of India & Department of Agriculture, Nagaur held a day-long program “Kisan Mela – IPM Cumin Production” at village Budi Arjunpura, District Nagaur of Rajasthan on 12 February 2021.

Emphasizing on the importance of blending traditional knowledge and modern techniques to augment IPM cumin production, the DBT-SABC Biotech Kisan Hub, Jodhpur in collaboration with ICAR-NRCSS, Ajmer, Spices Board of India & Department of Agriculture, Nagaur held a day-long program “Kisan Mela – IPM Cumin Production” at village Budi Arjunpura, District Nagaur of Rajasthan on 12 February 2021. 

Village Budi Arjunpura - the village of the 1999 Kargil martyr Sep Arjun Ram Baswana, is one of the villages implementing cumin and isabgol demonstration as part of DBT-SABC Biotech Kisan Hub in Rabi 2020-21. DBT-SABC Biotech Kisan Hub identified a dozen farmers from Budi Arjunapura and a neighboring village to demonstrate GAP/IPM practices to increase export & farmers’ income. 

Resource speakers included Dr SS Meena, principal Scientist and Dr Shiv Lal Meena, Senior Scientist of ICAR-NRCSS; Dr MY Honnur and Dr Shrishail Kulloli of the Spices Board Of India; Bhagirath Choudhary, SANDIP AGALE, PhD and Dr Naresh of South Asia Biotechnology Centre, Jodhpur; Sh Ramjas ji of Horticulture Department & Sh Anna Ram ji of Department of Agriculture, Nagaur and 250 smallholder farmers led by progressive farmer Sh Hari Ram ji Baswana.
