Meeting with Industry Associations for discussion on Poisons Act compliance on the Regulatory Compliance Portal of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

On a suggestion based on a communication received from ASSOCHAM regarding Poisons Act compliance on the Regulatory Compliance Portal of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), a meeting to discuss the concerns of industry stakeholders is scheduled to be convened on April 5, 2021 via VC.

The suggestion from ASSOCHAM is that “The industries, which are using bulk amount of acids/poisons in process or storing them as an inventory for further processing purposes, should not be under purview of local government supervision. As these industries have to handle/process the acids regularly for their end products, hence going through in rigorous supervision make the business full of hurdles. It is suggested that these practices should not be under the poison act, which makes handling/processing of such acids restricted even in industrial use”.

Stakeholders concerned for the same may contact The Director, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals with their concerns. Meeting participation is through industry associations and hence if interested, stakeholders may contact their relevant associations for the same.
