From a production level of 145 million tones/year at the beginning of millennium, it has reached to 305.4 million tones/year in 2017-18. However, over the years its scope has expanded to include crops like mushroom, bamboo, medicinal and aromatic crops, and plantation crops like tea, coffee, and rubber.
