ETG Agro India commissions nuts, almonds processing plant in Gujarat

Agro India said it had commissioned a processing plant for nuts and almonds with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year on the 12th of January 2021. The plant is based in theKheda district of Gujarat

In a statement, the company mentioned that it would import nuts like walnuts and cashews from domestic farmers, and almonds from global sources such as the United States and Australia.

Partnerships with key providers have been developed by the company. The company forecast revenues of over 8,000 tonnes for the 2021-22 financial year, it said.

Nuts will be sold in both bulk and individual pack formats with almonds at the starting and then extended to walnuts, pistachios, and cashews. The offerings will be sold under the name " ETG AGRO NATURZ "' PRO NUTS".

CEO of ETG Agro India, Parage Gadre commented on the company's entry into the nuts market and said that it is part of a long-term strategic business strategy to diversify into growingfoods, commodities, value-added processed staples, plant-based protein applications and consumer-resonant ingredients.

The plant also intends to manufacture nut ingredients for cookies, biscuits, ice-creams, and other consumer industries in the near future. ETG Agro India has placed particular emphasis on generating jobs for local women and, accordingly, after imparting the required skill sets, has employed more than 100 local women to operate the sorting line of the factory.

The business is part of the multinational ETG group of agri-conglomerates, with Mitsui as its strategic investor from Japan. It has a total processing capacity of 5,00,000 tonnes per year for pulses distributed through three facilities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.
