Foods That Will Keep You Warm From Inside in This Winter

Rupali Dutta, consultant nutritionist says “During winters, what you eat matters a lot for fighting the cold outside. There are certain foods that can generate heat in the body naturally. Hence, one must customize the pantry and include winter-friendly foods in it for the season.” 

Not only do they help to cope up with low temperatures but also they are proven to be effective for people having low immunity in their body, as with the onset of winters infections like cold, flu and viral fever come hand in hand. The best thing about these foods is that they are already there in our comfort reach. 

Here are the everyday foods to give you inner warmth: 

Honey: It is a healthy and natural alternative to sugar which is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and many nutrients. Besides keeping you warm, it also promotes better digestion and metabolism. Give a healthy start to your day with a glass of warm water and honey. 

Jaggery: Another natural and healthy alternative to sugar. It’s aromatic, delicious, and loaded with iron and several other minerals making it a great addition to your daily diet. You can have it as it is or add it to your favorite dessert. Jaggery is wholesome goodness in every way. 

Ghee: A go-to source of healthy fats that has several nutrients and is also considered beneficial for overall health. Due to its healthy richness, it has been a part of traditional medical practices for eons. It is added to rice, roti, sabzi, dal, or anything you enjoy with its flavor and goodness every day. 

Spices: For ages cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, turmeric, etc have been a part of Ayurveda, and are consumed in multiple ways, for example – masala chai, cinnamon tea, nutmeg coffee, medicinal powders and capsules, digestive candies, etc. Their application is not restricted to just food preparation. 

Dry Fruits: Superfoods are loaded with every essential nutrient and can be a great addition to your winter diet. Almonds, nuts, raisins, figs, etc there are so many and you can have them as it is or add them to your daily oatmeal bowl, a glass of milk, sweets, halwa, and more.  

All the above-mentioned foods are almost always there in our pantry. So, why don’t go and start having them with your daily diet? But, don’t binge on it, remember – Moderation is the key.
