The 26th Climate Change Conference is going on in Glasgow (Scotland), with the purpose to implement ways to reduce the global carbon footprint on different levels. With this, the highlighted onset of an emergency, people nowadays are taking a shift from being ‘Vegetarians’ to being ‘Vegan’, i.e., they are incorporating plant-based foods and proteins which are generally obtained from dairy and meat products.

Recently, ‘Food & Drink Report’ has been published by Waitrose Limited. Waitrose is a brand of British supermarkets founded in 1904 as ‘Waite, Rose & Taylor’, which was later shortened to ‘Waitrose’. Its head offices are located in Bracknell and Victoria in England.

About the report:

The report highlights the importance of the environment, the positive impact it has on people and because of which plant-based foods are going to be in rising demand next year. The report has also highlighted that milk derived from ‘potato’ – a high-carbohydrate vegetable – is going to be a trendsetter in 2022.

According to the report – “Potato milk will give a tough competition to almond milk, soy milk and even oats milk. Potato milk will pave its way towards the coffee shops. Potato milk is low in saturated fat and sugar, and is the sole reason why it is being preferred by people around the globe.”

Potato milk is found to be dairy-free, fat-free, and cholesterol-free. And not only, is the calcium found in it to be equivalent to cow milk, but also, the minerals and vitamins found in potato milk are more than any other vegan milk variety” – said experts.

The report cited that people will opt for the Climatarian diet, which focuses on reducing carbon footprint. One has to replace processed and red meat, in order to opt for this diet, with chickpeas, tofu, nuts, and seeds. And there will be an increased inclination towards home cooking while wasting less food and an aversion to meat.
