FMC announced recruitment in the Philippines

FMC Corporation announced that it has completed the recruitment of its own local field force in the Philippines, bringing almost 130 full time employees onboard. The company has worked with third-party agents in the Philippines since 2012. In 2020, they have decided to bring on board the third-party field force directly as full time employees.


Veronica Tiburcio Country Manager for FMC Philippines says "Having an in-house field force, with in-depth knowledge of the crop protection industry and a strong understanding of customer needs, will be a real game changer for us. It will greatly improve our business agility and operations, and allow us to further enhance our service to customers and the farming community.”

Koppert has acquired Dutch artificial intelligence start-up

Koppert Biological Systems has acquired Dutch artificial intelligence start-up company AgriAI to scale-up and accelerate its digital transformation. The acquisition of AgriAI is part of the biological solutions company’s ambition to become a leading digital innovator in agriculture and horticulture. Company's Digital Transformation Manager, Gabriël van der Kruijk says ‘We want to make biological crop protection as easy as possible. Which is why besides our natural solutions, we invest in technological transformation’.

APEDA helps to export Burmese grapes

To bridge the gap in India’s agriculture export potential, especially from the North-East, a consignment of Burmese grapes, known as “Leteku” in Assamese language, has been exported to Dubai. The consignment was sourced from Darang district and shipped with APEDA’s help.

Sale of jaggery cannot be treated as agricultural activity: Madras HC

A division bench of the Madras High Court has held that the exemption for agricultural income under the Income Tax Act, 1961 does not include the income from the sale of jaggery. The assessee, disclosed his income from the sale of jaggery as agricultural income and claimed for exemption. His request was rejected by the income tax department stating that the said activity cannot be treated as agricultural activity.

Unnati collaborates with Satyukt

Unnati, a FinTech-driven agriculture ecosystem has joined hands with Satyukt, an innovative satellite data analytics company to help farmers enhance their productivity and promote the best farming practices using satellite technology. As part of this collaboration, the company is giving farmers access to Satyukt’s Sat2Farm platform for purposes like soil testing, leveraging localized weather information, estimating soil moisture, providing irrigation advisory, analyzing crop growth, among others in real-time.
