BASF Digital Farming and Pessl collaborate to boost fruit and vegetable production 

BASF Digital Farming and Pessl Instruments have signed an agreement to collaborate globally on R&D activities to improve pest management in fruits and vegetables and thus boost the production. BASF Digital Farming and Pessl Instruments expect the pest recognition and monitoring service for grapes and pome fruit. The service will be available from 2022. 

CSC Agriculture Platform launched on May 26 through their FB live 

CSC Agriculture platform was launched on May 26 through a live program at 11:00am on CSC Facebook page. The esteemed speakers were Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, MD, CSC SPV, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, CEO, CSC, SPV and Mr. M.C Dominic, Editor-in Chief, Krishi Jagran & Agriculture World. In an interaction with Krishi Jagran, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, CEO of CSC, said, “CSC has decided to work with farmers in a comprehensive manner.”

UPL scales up ProNutivaSada Samrudh Groundnut Program in Gujarat 

UPL Ltd. announced the scaling up of its ProNutivaSada Samrudh Groundnut program in Gujarat.  The program aims to increase the productivity and enhance the quality of groundnut crop by applying sustainable agronomy practices including proper training, technology interventions and farm mechanization.  

Ashish Dobhal, Regional Head of India, UPL Ltd, said, “UPL has always endeavored to holistically and sustainably improve each crop, and this program has done just that. The results of our groundnut program in Gujarat have been great not only because of the increased yield but also because of the reduction in cost for the farmers, proving to be extremely beneficial.” 

Indian Government releases 3rd advance estimates of major agricultural crops 

The Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare has released the Third Advance Estimates of production of major agricultural crops for 2020 to 21. The total food grain production is estimated at 305.44 million tonnes. 

Bayer Crop Science reported doubling of its profit to Rs 61.9 crore 

Bayer Crop Science reported doubling of its profit to Rs 61.9 crore for the March 2021 quarter. The company's profit had stood at Rs 31.5 crore during the corresponding quarter of 2019-20.  Its revenue from operations during January-March 2021 jumped 59.95 % to Rs 733.7 crore, compared with Rs 458.7 crore in the year-ago period.

Zuari Agro Chemicals witnesses Rs 2.5 crore loss due to Cyclone Tauktae 

Zuari Agro Chemicals witnesses an Rs 2.5crore loss due to Cyclone Tauktae's impact on its Goa plant. Zuari Agro said, "we would like to inform you that the damages caused by Cyclone - Tauktae to the fertilizer plant at Goa including loss due to material lost is approx. Rs 2.5 crore only."
