One of India’s largest fresh produce supply chain companies, Ninjacart, has recently launched an initiative called ‘Harvest The Farms’ in order to help out farmers in the times of the Coronavirus crisis. Reportedly, many farmers and growers are struggling to sell their vegetables and fruits that are being perished in the farms unsupplied. With its initiative, Ninjacart has come forward to give all those farmers a helping hand by providing them, consumers. Now, farmers would be able to directly sell their produce to the consumers through Ninjacart.

The initiative will be launched in collaboration with local grocery stores. Food delivery apps like Zomato, Swiggy, and Dunzo will also be associated with the initiative in some regions including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Pune. The customers can select fresh vegetables and fruits on offer and place their orders in the apps by themselves. The consumers can simply go to the options in these apps that will lead them to the fresh produce section, for instance, Zomato Market in Zomato, Swiggy Grocery in Swiggy.

Elaborating more on the initiative, Thirukumaran Nagarajan, Co-Founder and CEO, Ninjacart, said, “Ninjacart has always believed in leveraging technology to create a positive impact on our society. During these uncertain times, while we are dealing with supply chain disruption, we cannot overlook the farmer's plight and let the harvest get wasted. With Indias largest fresh produce supply chain and extensive distribution network in cities, we believe we can leverage our capabilities to help farmers harvest the produce and let customers buy directly - preventing food wastage and reducing losses to farmers.”

“Harvest the farms is putting the best of Ninjacart to work in partnership with consumers to feed the feeding hands. This initiative would have not been possible without the support of local grocery stores and quick turnaround by teams at Zomato, Swiggy Dunzo to make it accessible and beneficial for large consumers,” added Nagarajan.
