World Food Prize Winner 2021 Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted

A turn of events took place in Assam and West Bengal with “Didi” Mamata Banerjee taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Himanta Biswa becoming the Chief Minister of Assam. Apart from this, stalwarts in the field of agriculture and allied fields are doing their bit (and more) to save Covid patients across the country. At the same time, Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted becomes the World Food Prize Winner 2020. A matter of pride for us because she is first female from Asian origin.

Bayer provides support and relief measures for India’s fight against COVID-19 

Bayer is re-purposing its existing 200 NM3/hr nitrogen plant at its manufacturing facility at Vapi, Gujarat to help provide a permanent source of oxygen supply to a local hospital. It will also provide oxygen concentrators to Primary Health Centres to serve communities across rural India.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee takes oath and inducts 43 ministers 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee takes oath and inducts 43 ministers in her new cabinet. Including  Jyoti Priya Mallick as Minister of  Forest, Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay as Minister of Agriculture,  Swapan Debnath Minister of  Animal Resources Development, S K Mahapatra Minister of Irrigation and Waterways and Biplab Mitra for Agriculture Marketing.

In Assam election 15th Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, allocated portfolios to his 13 cabinet colleagues. Two of them include:  Atul Bora as Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Parimal Shuklabaidya  as Minister of  Environment & Forests, Fisheries, Excise

IFFCO Kisan Sanchar sells 1 lakh tonnes of fodder valued at ₹160 crore 

IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Ltd, a subsidiary of India’s largest fertilizer company in co-operative sector IFFCO, sold 1 lakh tonnes of cattle feed valued at ₹160 crore during fiscal 2020-21 in the first full year of its operations.

Nutrition scientist Dr. Shakuntala Thilsted awarded the 2021 World Food Prize 

Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted, Global Lead for Nutrition and Public Health at WorldFish, was named the 2021 World Food Prize Laureate for her groundbreaking research, critical insights, and landmark innovations in developing nutrition-sensitive approaches to aquatic food systems, including fisheries and aquaculture, and integrated food production from land and water. Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh is the first woman of Asian heritage to be awarded the World Food Prize.

Therefore, Krishi Jagran has scheduled live Farmer First program on Krishi Jagran state wise FACEBOOK page on Thursday at 5:45 pm. The main objective of this program is to reach out to all farmers across the country for their concerns and problems.
