With this latest update on the 7th Pay Commission, government employees will no longer have to wait. According to reports, the Central government will meet on Wednesday to decide on the central government employees' unions' long-standing demand to raise the fitment factor.

According to reports, government employees now receive salaries under the fitment factor of 2.57 percent, which, if increased to 3.68 percent, would result in a rise of Rs 8,000 in the minimum income of the employees. This means that federal government employees' minimum wage would be increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000.

Here's how to figure out the total salary increase after the fitting factor increase:

Employees' basic wage will increase to Rs 26,000 if the fitment ratio is increased to 3.68. According to the 2.57 fitment factor, if your minimum salary is Rs 18,000, you will receive Rs 46,260 (18,000 X 2.57 = 46,260) without allowances.

The Union Cabinet approved the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations with 34 changes in 2017.
