Alert! Outbreak of Bird Flu in Poultry Birds Confirmed in 9 States

The Central government confirmed the outbreak of Bird Flu or Avian Influenza in poultry birds in 9 states of India. And along with this, it is also observed in 12 crows, migratory, and other wild birds.

The Central government confirmed the outbreak of Bird Flu or Avian Influenza in poultry birds in 9 states including Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. And along with this, it is also observed in 12 crows, migratory, and other wild birds.  

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India provides funds to states & union territories on a 50:50 sharing basis under ASCAD component of its LH & Dc Scheme,” the ministry said.  

Senior Official of Union Ministry of DAHD said, “Control and Containment operations including cleaning and disinfection are underway in the affected epicenters of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat.” 

He mentioned that the government is distributing compensation to farmers whose poultry birds, eggs, and poultry feed are being disposed.  

The Official said that the Central Government provides funds to states and union territories on an equal sharing basis. The Maharashtra government has sanctioned a compensation package of Rs. 1.3 crore for the culling of poultry and other birds, eggs, and poultry feed within 1 km radius of the infected area. He mentioned one more thing that the consumption of poultry products is safe if cooked at more than 70-degree Celsius for half an hour. 

Ministry said about the control measures also. It said that all the states are reporting to the Department on the daily basis regarding the control measures adopted by the states and union territories based on the Revised Action Plan for Prevention, Control, and Containment of bird flu.
