Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has today transferred Rs 611 crore directly into the bank accounts of 27.5 lakh workers of the state, registered under the MNREGA scheme.
The CM Yogi who spoke to a group of workers through video conferencing, said that the government would take care of all daily wage earners who had lost their livelihood amid the lockdown. The chief minister also asked officials to ensure food & lodging for all migrant workers and also arrange for their stay till the lockdown time.
The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also reviewed the preparedness to deal with the crisis in Noida that has reported maximum cases in the state. He is expected to visit Noida and western UP districts to review the situation. The state has reported a total of 75 positive cases so far. It has been one of the worst impacted cities with the spreading influence of the virus. Around 32 confirmed positive cases have been reported from the city so far. The total number of coronavirus positive cases has crossed 1000 in the country & claimed 29 lives.
Uttar Pradesh government financial help:
The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a slew of financial measures for the poor who are facing the lockdown brunt. The government has promised Rs 1,000 each to more than 16.5 lakh daily wage workers & 20.37 lakh construction workers.
For the time being, any worker or employee infected with the virus and quarantined either at hospital or at home will be provided a 28-day paid leave by their employer across Noida & Greater Noida, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has ordered. As per the order, shops, industries and factories closed due to the lockdown will have to give daily wage along with leave to their workers & labourers during the lockdown period.
Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate B N Singh said, “The UP government has already declared the pandemic as a “disaster” and the lockdown has been ordered with an objective to contain the virus from spreading.”
