The hardship of farmers in India is not hidden. High crop failure along with low incomes is not letting farmers sustain in the increased inflation. And this is why they find it difficult to pay their bills. Keeping this issue in view, the state government of Uttar Pradesh has come up with a new scheme which is known as 'Kisan Asan Kist Yojana'.
The scheme has come with effect from the 1st of February 2020 and is proved to be relieving for most farmers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The scheme can be availed by those farmers who use tube wells in their lands. These farmers will be able to pay the due electricity bills of their tube wells in easy installments.
Elaborating about the scheme, Shrikant Sharma, Minister of Power, UP, said that consumers can register for the scheme from 1st February to 29th February after they submit the current bill with five percent of the arrears or minimum of Rs 1500 to their nearest CSC, Sub Divisional Officer or Executive Engineer office. After registering, they will get the option of paying the dues in six installments.
Every month, farmers will have to deposit the bill for that month along with installments. As a result, the interests of the farmers will be forgiven on the timely payment of all the dues. The minister further elaborated that the consumers who have been sent a notice for recovery of dues can also be benefitted from this scheme. An important thing to note here is that the benefits of this scheme are only for those farmers who pay their electricity bills on time.
Earlier, the term of this scheme was already going on for consumers using domestic electricity up to 4 Kilowatt electricity load. Its term was going to end on 31st January, but it has now been extended till February 29 in the interest of farmers. It has been reported that about 20 lakh consumers have been benefited from this scheme until now.
