The Uttarakhand government, led by Pushkar Singh Dhami, announced on Thursday (May 18) that Antyodaya cardholders will receive three free LPG cylinders per year.

At a meeting of the state cabinet led by the chief minister, the decision to provide free cooking gas cylinders was made.

According to Chief Secretary SS Sandhu, the judgment would benefit a total of 1,84,142 Antyodaya cardholders. After the cabinet meeting, Sandhu told the reporters that the government has agreed to continue offering farmers a bonus of Rs 20 per quintal on wheat purchases, as in previous years.

The BJP has praised the cabinet's decision to provide free LPG cylinders, saying it is in line with the welfare state idea. "This is a vital judgment." The state government followed through on its commitment. It will strengthen the weakest areas.

"It would enable them to live a better life," Manveer Singh Chauhan, state BJP publicity in charge, said.

The decision was made ahead of the May 31 assembly election, in which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is the BJP's candidate. The opposition Congress claims that the measure is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct and that the party would take the matter to the Election Commission.

The MCC took effect when it was declared that the assembly by-poll will be held on May 31, 2022, according to Congress. The statement was made public to influence voters, according to the party, and it was a breach of the model code of conduct.

"We're filing a complaint with the Election Commission. It's clearly against the model code of behavior. Why is the state government acting this way? Is it certain that the chief minister will win in Champawat?" Suryakant Dhasmana, a senior Congress leader, stated.
