On Monday (16 May 2022), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had transferred ex-gratia aid of Rs 551 crore to 25,982 laborer's families and Rs 22.23 crore to 1036 construction workers' families under the Sambal Yojana.

Chouhan transferred money directly into the account of beneficiaries. The scheme has been launched to help low-income families.

The Sambal 2.0 scheme is being launched after modifications in it to benefit more people. The state's tendu patta pluckers would be included in the unorganized sector employment category under the plan. Sambal 2.0 includes a mechanism for workers to apply for MP online or at public service centers, and to get notification of their application through SMS or WhatsApp. Workers who were previously considered ineligible will be allowed to reapply.

Sachin Sinha, the state's Principal Secretary for Labor, stated that the Sambal Yojana provides support to employees and their families who work in the state's unorganized sector.

Anugrah Sahayata Yojana provides financial support of Rs 4 lakh in the case of an accident and Rs 2 lakh in the event of a natural death. Similarly, permanent disability is covered by Rs 2 lakh, partly permanent disability by Rs 1 lakh, and funeral aid by Rs 5000. Women labourers are given Rs 16000 as maternity assistance under the plan, and their children are given free schooling.

The Chief Minister has paid an ex-gratia payment of Rs 321.35 crore to 14,475 families of unorganized sector laborers as death support under the Mukhyamantri Jan-Kalyan Sambal Yojana on September 27, 2021.

'Sambal' is a vital initiative for thousands of workers in the state's unorganized sector, in which they get financial aid from birth to death. In actual sense the scheme is the power of the workforce. In the interest of workers, Chief Minister Chouhan has revived the initiative.
