The winter break in all public and private schools in Haryana was extended by the state government on Friday till January 21, 2023. The choice was made in light of the cold weather that is now gripping Northern India, particularly Haryana. The state's schools will now start classes on Monday, January 23, 2023.

Due to the cold wave, the state government has previously decided to extend the winter break until January 15, 2023. The Haryana government has again extended the winter holiday to January 23, 2022, since it is expected that the chilly weather would persist throughout the next week.

All public and private schools in Haryana will stay closed till January 21 as a result of the extension of the winter break, according to a notice from the Directorate of School Education in that province.

The schools will now resume on January 23, instead of January 16, as initially planned.

However, the announcement stated that classes will still be held for Class 10 and 12 students who must show up for their board exams.

The minimum temperatures on Friday were near normal limits and there were light rains in several areas of Punjab and Haryana, according to the meteorological department. The lowest temperature in Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, was 9.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the MeT department, Haryana's Narnaul, Karnal, Rohtak, and Ambala each had a low temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius.
