International Yoga Day Celebrations at IARI, Delhi

International Yoga Day is being celebrated annually on 21st June since its inception in 2015. Today Sh. Kailash Choudhary, State Agriculture Minister, Government of India headed the 5th International Yoga Day celebrations with the Scientists, technical staff, students and administrative staff of the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa Campus, New Delhi. At the outset, DG, ICAR& Secretary DARE Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra welcomed the State Agriculture Minister, Sh Kailash Choudhary with a bouquet of flowers and also thanked him for sparing his valuable time and making this event a grand success.

Sh. Kailash Chaudhary highlighted the importance of Yoga as an important invaluable gift to the people. He explained that by changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, yoga can help in maintaining good health. He also addressed the whole staff, stressing upon the importance of Yoga for the overall health, peace, harmony, and progress. He emphasized that the Prime Minister of our country, Shri Narendra Modi Ji is trying to make Yoga a pillar of the 'preventive healthcare and wellness' system. 

The Hon'ble minister himself practiced many yoga asana and pranayama to all the participants who gathered for yoga day. He also mentioned that yoga should be part of our daily life. He also highlighted the importance of yoga in daily life by explaining that yoga can play a huge role in attention, focus, concentration and reduces stress and tension in the physical body. He also mentioned that we should practice yoga in our day to day life. 

At the end, Dr. A K Singh Director ICAR-IARI proposed a vote of thanks. He expressed his gratefulness to the State Agriculture Minister, Sh. Kailash Choudhary, DG-ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Joint Director (Extension) and other staff for their gracious presence and making the function a grand success and a memorable day of the year 2019.
