Karnataka Government Forms Institution Similar to NITI Aayog

Planning, economics, social welfare, rural development, education, health, agriculture, science and technology, skills development, employment, and clean energy would all be sections or divisions of the body.

The state government issued an order on Saturday establishing the 'State Institute for Transformation of Karnataka' (SITK) in place of the 'Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission,' similar to the NITI Aayog at the Centre. According to the order, the new institution was established to carry out the mission of constructing a "New Karnataka for a New India."

The Chief Minister will be the Chairman of SITK, and the Vice Chairperson for SITK, an expert in government planning and other issues, will be appointed soon, according to the statement.

According to an official statement, the state government will provide Rs 150 crore per year to enable SITK to function effectively and achieve its goals.

It stated that it would have eight domain experts as advisers from the fields of planning, economics, social welfare, rural development, education, health, agriculture, science and technology, skills development, employment, and clean energy.

Planning, economics, social welfare, rural development, education, health, agriculture, science and technology, skills development, employment, and clean energy would all be sections or divisions of the body.

The Chief Executive Officer and Adviser for SITK would be the Additional Secretary in the Department of Planning, Programme Implementation, and Statistics.

Experts in poverty alleviation, revenue generation, food and nutrition, service simplification, clean and green energy, resource management, gender equality, industry and infrastructure, innovation, and skills development would also be appointed. The state government will also name 14 renowned government and non-government organizations as stakeholders, including IISc, IIMB, and NLSIU.
