MAHE Bengaluru Hosts Marathon to Raise Funds for Cancer Treatment of Underprivileged Children

Ahead of the massive Manipal Marathon set to take place early next month, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Bengaluru, along with other campuses throughout India, organized the 3K marketing run today.

The theme for this year's Manipal Marathon is 'Early Detection saves lives - I Can Cer-Vive'. The initiative is a significant effort to aid the fight against cancer among children.

Dr. Raghavendra Prabhu P, Deputy Registrar of MAHE Bengaluru, started off the 3K run on the campus in Bengaluru on Sunday, nearly 50-60 individuals participated in the marathon.

On February 12, the University of Manipal's Manipal campus will host the Manipal Marathon in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Manipal. Up to Rs 60 lakhs is anticipated to be raised in total, and this money will be used to aid underprivileged children diagnosed with cancer as well as for cancer research.

Meanwhile, the globe will mark World Cancer Day 2023 soon. The international day is an annual event and is acknowledged across the world on February 4 of every year. Sponsored by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the day aims to increase public understanding of cancer risks and the best ways to prevent, detect, and treat the disease.

In addition, World Cancer Day encourages people, groups, and governments to work together to eliminate the various healthcare disparities and obstacles that people must overcome in order to get necessary care.

World Cancer Day is one of the most often observed days for health awareness. In 105 countries, over 900 events and activities were held during the day in the previous year, with 319 famous monuments illuminated in 213 towns to commemorate the day, including Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Petra in Jordan, and Westminster Palace in London.
