Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (February 28) announced that the Jal Shakti Ministry of the Centre is planning to begin a 100-day drive called "Catch the Storm" to encourage water conservation in the region.

The Prime Minister made the remarks during the second 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme of the year. Water, according to the Prime Minister, is a collective blessing from nature to humanity, and it is everyone's collective duty to protect the precious natural resource. Water, he said, has been essential to humanity's growth for centuries.

This is the perfect time to suggest water management for the forthcoming summer months. Magha Purnima was celebrated yesterday. Rivers, streams, and other bodies of water are associated with the month of Magh. For us, water is life, as well as faith and a source of creation. In certain cases, water is more essential than ‘Paras.' Iron is said to be turned into gold by the touch of 'Paras.' "The contact of water is often important for life," the Prime Minister explained.

Sant Ravidas' birth anniversary was observed yesterday on the occasion of Magha Purnima, and he paid tribute to him. 'Sant Ravidas Ji taught us to work hard and not to expect much in return. There will be happiness if this is finished. He taught people to look beyond the box,' the Prime Minister said.
