Women have always been important on the farm. Women's empowerment is critical for the health and social development of families, communities, and countries. Women can reach their full potential when they live lives that are safe, fulfilling, and productive. They can contribute their skills to the workforce while also raising happier and healthier children.

"The scheme is introduced with the goal of doubling mushroom production across the State through area expansion involving women beneficiaries/WSHGs and making the state self-sufficient in the production of button mushrooms and loose flowers," according to an official statement.

"Over the mission period, the scheme will ensure sustainable income generation of women beneficiaries/WSHGs, and the state will emerge as the net exporter of mushroom and high-value flowers," it added.

The state Cabinet has also approved a budget of Rs1142.24 crore for the four-year period 2022-23 to 2025-26 for the implementation of the State Sector Scheme "Development of Potato, Vegetable, and Spices" with the participation of WSHGs and FPOs.

"The scheme is introduced with the goal of providing financial assistance to farmers for the cultivation of Potato, Onions, Hybrid vegetables, and Spices in order to make the State self-sufficient in the production of 5 vegetables (Potato, Onion, Tomato, Cauliflower, and Cabbage)," according to the statement.

"It will create a lot of jobs in rural areas and increase farmers' income. The state's current reliance on other states for vegetables such as potatoes, onions, and seed spices will be reduced, and the state will become self-sufficient," it added. On Tuesday, the state Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and made 17 major decisions.
