In a significant development, Parshottam Rupala, the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for the Government of India, engaged in a productive bilateral meeting with Damien O'Connor, the Minister of Trade and Export Growth/ Minister of Agriculture from New Zealand.

The meeting, held recently, focused on fostering collaboration between the two nations in several key areas.

Both sides deliberated extensively on potential avenues for bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on epidemiology, animal disease management, on-farm biosecurity, and animal traceability. These topics hold paramount importance in ensuring the health and sustainability of livestock industries in both nations. The exchange of insights and expertise can significantly contribute to enhancing animal welfare and safeguarding public health.

Furthermore, the two ministers contemplated the idea of formalizing their commitment through a Joint Declaration of Intent. This proposed collaboration framework between the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in India and New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries could serve as a cornerstone for future collaborations, enabling shared research, technology transfer, and policy development.
