PM Modi at World Economic Forum: India is Fighting Another Pandemic with ‘Full Alertness’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Davos Agenda today where he said that India has given the entire world a "bouquet of hope".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Davos Agenda, saying that India has offered the whole world a "bouquet of optimism." The bouquet comprises confidence in democracy, technology to empower the twenty-first century, and the talent and temperament of us Indians," he said. 

The World Economic Forum annual conference that is being held in the Swiss ski resort town of Davos for the last 50 years, was unable to take place in 2021 due to Coronavirus epidemic and has been postponed until early summer this year. 

The virtual summit 'Davos Agenda' summit, on the other hand, would be convened for the second year in a row on the dates originally set for the physical annual meeting. 

World Economic Forum Highlights: 

  • We utilized the Corona period to implement changes.

  • As I speak to you today, India is grappling with the third wave of the epidemic.

  • India has presented the world with a bouquet of optimism. We have complete trust in this bouquet.

  • We also concentrated on measures that were headed in the right way. Global economic experts have praised India's actions and Iam confident that India will meet the world's expectations.

  • In just one year, India has administered nearly 160 crore doses of the Covid vaccines.

  • India, as a democracy, has offered the entire globe a bouquet of optimism. The bouquet contains faith in democracy, technology to empower the 21st century and skill and temperament of Indians.

  • India is combating another COVID-19 outbreak with vigilance and prudence, while sustaining economic growth.

  • During the Covid era, we witnessed India's vision of One Earth, One Health, which saved millions of lives by delivering medicines to countries. Today, India is the world's pharmacy. It is a country where doctors have earned the trust of all by showing empathy.

  • During this crisis, the IT sector worked round the clock. India is now contributing a record number of software professionals to the world. India has the world's third-highest number of Unicorns.

  • India's digital infrastructure, which it developed and embraced in the previous year, has become its greatest strength. Aarogya Setu app and CoWin Portal are India's source of pride.  There was a time when India was well-known for its license raaj.

  • I am aware of the difficulties that India's businesses face. We are striving to alleviate the obstacles.

  • Indians' entrepreneurial drive, as well as their aptitude to absorb new technologies, can provide new vitality to each of our worldwide partners. As a result, now is the perfect moment to invest in India.

  • Entrepreneurship among Indian youth is at an all-time high. In 2014, India has a few hundred registered startups. At the same time, their number has now surpassed 60 thousand. It also has more than 80 unicorns, of which more than 40 were made in 2021.

  • Today, India is making policies and decisions that affect both the present and the next 25 years. In this period India has set the goals of high growth, a saturation of welfare and wellness. This time of expansion will be green, clean, sustainable, and reliable.

  • We must realize that our way of life poses a significant threat to the environment. The 'throw away' culture and consumerism have exacerbated the climate crisis. It is critical to move quickly toward the circular economy, which is today's 'take-make-use-dispose' economy.

  • Though India constitutes 70% of the global population that takes up power commission of only 5%, our effort for sustainable development is 100%.
