It highlights our dedication to the dairy industry and the summit. India is currently producing 20% of the world’s crops and for this summit to happen in India is a great coincidence. Speaking with the Krishi Jagran team about what the IDF is looking to take away from the summit, Caroline Emond, Director General of the International Dairy Federation said, “Since the last time the summit was organized in India 48 years ago, the dairy sector has grown immensely and helped Indian economy get stronger. What we want is for the participants of the summit to watch and learn from the Indian dairy sector. In most countries, dairy is a part of another industry but in India, it is at the core of the country and not just economically. It is part of the culture of India and that’s why it is going to be a great summit.”

Pierchristiano Brazzale, IDF President and Chair of the Board of Directors said, “India is the right country to organize this summit right now. The dairy industry makes a huge part of the Indian economy and its development and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic are remarkable. A huge issue of the dairy industry currently is the economical sustainability with the inflation and the product prices, not just for the farmers but also for the processing companies. The focus is on sustainability and we will present the new ICI methodology next Thursday during the session on the environment.”

The summit is sponsored by the Indian dairy sector's biggest names such as Amul and Nandini and Nestle and powered by Mother Dairy. The event will be conducted in a hybrid mode which means those who cannot physically join the event can join virtually.
