Union Budget 2021: List of Government Schemes Announced by FM Nirmala Sitharaman

On Monday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Budget 2021-22. Here is the list of the Schemes launched by the Finance Minister.

On Monday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget 2021-22. The minister started her speech quoting Rabindranath Tagore, and thanking everyone for going through the impacts of coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis. 

Here is the list of the Schemes announced by the Finance Minister.

  1. The Minister announced the PM Aatmanirbhar Swastha Bharat Yojana that is sponsored by the central government. Expenditure of this scheme is around 56,180 crore Rupees spread over six years.  

  2. The minister announced an increase in the capital outlay in the health sector with 137 percent. For the year 2021-22, the minister announced the amount of 2,23,000 crore rupees.  

  3. The total amount of Aatmanirbhar package is 27.1 lakh crore rupees to deal with the coronavirus pandemic impact. With this, minister also mentioned about two vaccines and will have two more vaccines.  

  4. Next is the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana and three Aatmanirbhar Bharat packages that are 5 mini budges in themselves.  

  5. Ujawala scheme, it will be extended to cover more beneficiaries, nearly once crore more beneficiaries. City gas distribution network will be extended to 100 more cities. And for Jammu Kashmir, minister announced a gas pipeline project. 

  6. Minister announced Jal Jeevan- Urban with an outlay of 2.87 crore rupees. 

  7. To inculcate confidence in participants among the corporate bond market, Fintech Hub was also proposed.

  2. Textile parks scheme was also announced by the minister with the objective to create seven such parks over the next three years.

  3. Foreign Direct Investment in the insurance sector has also been increased from 49 to 74 percent. 

  4. Data Analytics, AI, ML, MCA 21 version 3.0 will be launched to have additional modules for e-adjudication, consultation, compliance management will be launched.

  5. Minister also mentioned about the disinvestment in IDBI Bank, Air India etc, and said that it will be completed in 2021-22. Legislation changes were proposed by the minister for IPO of LIC.

  6. For disinvestment in public sector enterprises, incentive package from the Centre to states will also be proposed by the government. 

  7. The minister estimated 1.75 crore rupees from disinvestment in 2021-22.

  8. Finance Minister said that the third pillar of AatmanirbharBharat aims at Inclusive Development. Third pillar focuses on financial inclusion, migrant workers, labourers, development of agriculture and rural sector.  

  1. Gig and platform workers will also be provided with social security for financial inclusion. And women will be able to work night shifts with proper protection. 

  2. Finance Minister has increased the capital expenditure for MSME to 15.17 thousand crore rupees, which is absolutely double to that of last year. 

  3. Under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission under reinvigorating human capital, the minister said a Central University will also be established min Leh for accessible higher education at Ladakh under the National Education Policy (NEP).
