In the next five years, the Yogi government hopes to distribute 20 million tablets and smartphones to the youth. The government is working hard to achieve this. Bids for 2.5 million tablets and 2.5 million smartphones were published on the GeM portal under this scheme, which was executed in 2021-22. In total, the chosen supplying firms requested 7.20 lakh tablets and 10.50 lakh smartphones (for a total of 17.70 lakh gadgets).

In this regard, the State Government decided that for the fiscal year 2021-22, the scheme will target and contract 17.70 lakh students who are in their final year of study or who are enrolled in a course that lasts more than a year.

In light of these students graduating, the supply of 5,38,017 devices left after March 31, 2022, should be continued. In addition, instructions were issued to deliver within 60 days. The budget for the financial year 2022-23 will be used for this purpose.

In order to ensure the scheme's continuation in 2022-23, instructions were given to increase the contracts of the supplier groups by 25%, as per the GeM portal's provision. In addition, it was ordered that a market assessment of tablet and smartphone rates be conducted to confirm that the rates of these devices have not gone below the agreed rates.
