Weather Alert! IMD Issues Heavy Rain and Thunder Squall Alert over These Parts of India in Next 5-6 Days

Due to continued moisture incursion, strong wind convergence and conducive upper-level features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during next 5-6 days, says the Indian Metrological Department in its morning bulletin.

Due to continued moisture incursion, strong wind convergence and conducive upper-level features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during next 5-6 days, says the Indian Metrological Department in its morning bulletin.

On the other hand, isolated heavy rainfall, thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph over Eastern India and more than 60 kmph over Northeast India) & hailstorms are also very likely over West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during this period, says reports.

Weather in South India

Rainfall activity over Kerala & adjoining areas of Karnataka and Tamilnadu is likely to increase from tonight and over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from 25th April for the subsequent 6-7 days. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds & heavy rainfall are also likely over these regions during this period. 

Weather in North India

Under the influence of a Western Disturbance, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall with isolated hailstorm during next 24 hours.

Weather in North East India

As per yesterday’s report, rain/thundershowers observed at most places over Arunachal Pradesh; at many places over Assam & Meghalaya; at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.

On the other hand, thunderstorm accompanied observed reported (from 0830 to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday): at isolated places Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Tripura, Rayalaseema and Kerala & Mahe.

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places Saurashtra & Kutch; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Konkan & Goa and at isolated places over Coastal & North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe while minimum temperature.
