Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall likely over West Bengal, Odisha & Other States; Light Showers in Delhi on 2 July

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 30 said that light rainfall is likely in Delhi for next 2-3 days, amid a delayed monsoon. As per the weather department, national capital may receive light rainfall may be on July 2 and July 3, that may result in a drop in the temperature.

Weather in Delhi 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 30 said that light rainfall is likely in Delhi for next 2-3 days, amid a delayed monsoon. As per the weather department, national capital may receive light rainfall may be on July 2 and July 3, that may result in a drop in the temperature.  

Head of IMD's regional forecasting centre, Kuldeep Srivastava, however, said that condition for monsoon is still "not favourable" and will be "delayed'. 

He further added by saying that the temperature in Delhi is likely to stay above 42 degrees celsius and the heatwaves are likely to continue. 

Weather in North East

  • Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely over the isolated places of Assam, Meghalaya and Bihar. Furthermore, very heavy rains are also predicted over the parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim. 

  • There is a possibility of fairly widespread to widespread rains along with thunderstorms over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Konkan & Goa and Lakshadweep. 

Weather in north and central India

  • Apart from this, isolated rains with thunderstorm are predicted over west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada and North Interior Karnataka. 

  • The highest temperatures are forecasted to be above 45°C in some places of Rajasthan, above 40°C in a few parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh. 

  • Heat-wave condition is predicted over the isolated regions of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. 

  • Scattered rains are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and South Interior Karnataka

Widespread rains along with thunderstorm are likely over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe.
