Weather Update: These States Will Witness Heavy Rainfall in the Next 5 Days, Check Weather in Your State

Over the next few days, there is a good chance that several areas of India could experience heavy rain. The northeast of India, the extreme south of the peninsula, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim are expected to see torrential rainfall over the course of the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Similar weather is predicted for Bihar and Uttarakhand through August 30 as well as for Himachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh on August 28 and 29. At mean sea level, the monsoon trough passes by the Himalayan foothills.

Over the next few days, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram are likely to see heavy rain. Over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 27 to July 29, as well as over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya over the following five days, there will be "very widespread/widespread mild to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rains and thunderstorm/lightning highly likely."

Over the eastern part of the country, heavy showers also forecast. "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Bihar during 27th-29th; Jharkhand on 28th; southeast Uttar Pradesh on 28th & 29th; and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 5 days," the IMD stated in its weather bulletin. On Sunday, Bihar may have a few isolated, very strong rainstorms.

Isolated heavy downpours with thunderstorms or lightning were predicted by the IMD for the Western Himalayan area, which includes Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. On August 28 and 29, Himachal Pradesh will likely have torrential rains, as is Uttarakhand up until August 29. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are among the southern Indian states projected to face major downpours over the next five days.

According to the weather service, there will be "fairly widespread/widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over North Interior Karnataka on July 27, 30, and 31; Coastal Andhra Pradesh on July 27 and 28; Telangana on July 27 to 29; Rayalaseema on July 30 to July 31; Coastal Karnataka on July 30 to 31; and over Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe and South Interior Karnat.
