Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam or APJ abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931. He served as the 11th President of India. Apart from the post of the President, he served in various capacities and is remembered for his immense contributions to the nation. He was a distinguished scientist, visionary statesman, prolific writer and above all a great human being. We lost this gem of a person today, 6 years ago.

What is Abdul Kalam famous for?

Abdul Kalam is well known for playing the leading role in the development of country’s missile & nuclear weapons programs.

His beliefs and quotes: 

He believed that a country can prosper only when rural technology is advanced and batted for setting up of agriculture based technical institutes in these areas. As a scientist and as the head of the nation he took care of the farmers as much as for developing missile fort the defense forces.

On an occasion, he was also quoted saying that ‘Agriculture has a key role in reducing poverty since 3 billion people live in rural areas and are largely dependent on agriculture, while food process determine the cost of living for the urban poor’. He always admired farmers for their hardwork'. 

He inspired tens and thousands of youngsters through his life philosophy and teachings. He always told young people to dream big, because dreams can transform into thoughts and thoughts into actions. He also preached that failures should never overtake or distract a person if the will to succeed is strong enough.  

He had touched countless lives in his lifetime and even after his death, he lives through his good deed and contributions in various fields. He left indelible marks not only in the field of science but also on Indian agriculture. 

Today on his death anniversary Krishi Jagran pays tribute to Bharat Ratna APJ ABDUL KALAM whose ideals in life will continue to inspire many.
