Langsat are the trees from the Mahogany Family, which is scientifically known as Lansium parasiticum. Langsat’s tree grow under the tropical humid environments and is a long erect plant, it begins to yield after 4 years of plantation and it continues to produce fruits for over 100 years. Small yellow flowers appear in the langsat tree from April to June, which later on develops greenish berries in clusters. Its fruits are ready for harvesting between the month of August and November, when their color turns into brownish yellow. It is plant that bears small, orb shaped, edible fruits and these fruits resemblance potato from their outer appearance and inside it has a white flesh, which contains inedible bitter seeds.

Vitamin A

Langsat contains vitamin A in it, which is the essential co-factor for vital body functions. Langsat is high in vitamin A, which helps in maintaining healthy skin, eyes, teeth, skeletal tissues and mucous membranes healthy.

Langsat is rich in vitamins like thiamine and riboflavin, which enhances the RBC formation and helps in the break-down of carbohydrate to provide energy to the body. Riboflavin is one of the important factors for the production of red blood cells and for overall body growth.

Every 100gms of Langsat contains 0.8g of protein, 2.3g of fiber, 20mg Calcium, 30mg of phosphorous, 9.5g of carb, 124mg of riboflavin, 89mcg of thiamine, 13IU of vitamin A and 1mg of ascorbic acid.
