The airline which frequently takes the heat for the food supplied in flight has unveiled a new menu that supports the growing popularity of healthy eating. Together with a large selection of gourmet meals, the menu also offers a wide selection of appetisers and sweets.

With options like mixed vegetable paratha, murgh rezala kofta, achari paneer, chicken Chettinad kathi roll, murgh elaichi korma, masala dal, brown bread, and brown rice khichdi with sprouts, traditional tomato and coriander shorba with crisp namakpara, etc., the menu on Air India domestic offers both international and Indian cuisine.

The domestic flights also serve international food, such as roast tomato and bocconcini caprese with kalamata olives and pesto, roast tomato and turmeric chilli omelette, Emmenthal sandwich in multigrain bread, grilled prawns in a fennel cream sauce, traditional chilli chicken, baked fillet of fish, and others.

The airline has put a lot of thought and effort into the new menus, according to Sandeep Verma, head of inflight services at Air India. "Our overarching focus when designing the new menus has been on ensuring that they include healthy options that are delicious, and on incorporating modern, sustainable techniques," he added.

Based on the passenger’s input, all international flights now offer a foreign menu in addition to the domestic one.

Besides desi cuisine which includes vegetable paratha and brown rice khichdi, the menu also includes international dishes including turmeric chilli omelette, mushroom scrambled egg, grilled prawns in a fennel cream sauce, Emmenthal sandwich in multigrain bread, baked fillet of fish, classic chilli chicken, bocconcini caprese with kalamata olives and pesto, roast tomato, and others.

The vegan dishes include lemon sevaiyan upma, Thai red curry with tofu and vegetables, subz seekh kebab, medu wada, broccoli and millet steak, and masala uttapam.

The menu offers a wide selection of desserts, such as khajur tukda with kesar phirni, but it also offers a large selection of drinks, such as virgin mary, California orange, and apple spritzer.

There are several premium alcohol companies to choose from, as well as a superb wine list including French and Italian wines.
