With effect from August 17, 22, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells milk and dairy products under the Amul brand, has decided to raise the price of milk by Rs 2 per liter in all markets including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, West Bengal, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

Amul Gold will cost Rs. 31 per 500 ml in the Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets, Amul Taaza Rs. 25 per 500 ml, and Amul Shakti Rs. 28 per 500 ml. The 4% increase in MRP caused by the increase of Rs 2 per liter is less than the average rate of food inflation.

The increase in production expenses and milk production costs is the reason for this price increase. The cost of feeding cattle alone has grown by around 20% over the previous year. Our member unions have also raised farmers' prices by 8–9% compared to last year in view of the surge in input costs.

Amul has a policy of giving the milk producers around 80% of every rupee that customer spends on milk and milk products. The price adjustment will help in maintaining reasonable milk pricing for our milk producers and will motivate them to produce more milk.
