Bhupender Yadav took part in the online 'High-Level Discussion on the Intersection of Human Health and the Environment' during the 2nd Berlin Forum on Chemicals and Sustainability, focusing on the path towards a cleaner planet with minimal pollution. This event occurred on September 4th, 2023, and featured Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

The gathering was organized with the intention of establishing a shared comprehension of the matter and offering high-level political direction and impetus concerning significant international issues and priorities regarding the responsible management of chemicals and waste. Additionally, it sought to garner backing and secure a strong commitment to 'SAICM Beyond 2020' during the forthcoming 5th meeting of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5).

During the event, Yadav underscored the significance of the chemical manufacturing sector, especially within India, and underscored the potential repercussions of their adverse effects because of capacity limitations experienced by many nations. He highlighted the contributions made towards achieving the objectives of multilateral environmental agreements. The Union Minister also noted that India has proactively adapted its domestic regulations, with the Extended Producer Responsibility framework already in place as a tool for managing waste.

Yadav pointed out that, guided by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership, steps have been implemented to attain a sustainable and equitable form of development, with a primary focus on safeguarding both human health and the environment.

Additionally, the Union Minister emphasized that there is an ongoing effort to establish a system for the registration, authorization, classification of hazards, and labeling of chemicals before they are utilized commercially. This initiative aims to meet the increasing demands of the chemical sector, tackle regulatory obstacles, and encourage innovation.
