Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown large-heartedness through his decision to repeal the farm laws.

He stated that the PM did not want a row in any part of the country during the 75th anniversary of the country's independence.

"We are commemorating the 75th anniversary of independence with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav...

The Prime Minister thought it was inappropriate that there was disagreement in any part of the country. "He has demonstrated large-heartedness (aaitihasic badappan ka parichaye) through his decision to repeal the farm laws," Tomar said while speaking to reporters after the BJP farmers' wing national executive meeting in Gurugram on Sunday.

Tomar stated that the farm laws were introduced to benefit farmers, but a small group of people opposed them.

BJP President JP Nadda stated at the national executive that the central government is committed to the welfare of farmers and has taken many initiatives and implemented schemes in this regard.

A senior BJP leader, who was aware of the incident, stated that Nadda instructed party workers to inform farmers about the central government's schemes.

During the day-long meeting, a political resolution was voted to thank the Prime Minister for the government's work on farmers' welfare and agricultural development. The meeting comes ahead of the crucial assembly polls in five states.

Of the five poll-bound states, farm agitation was a burning issue in two states, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

"The party workers have been urged to hold meetings at the booth level and inform farmers about the central government's schemes and initiatives," said a senior party functionary who attended the event.

Rajkumar Chahar, a BJP MP and national president of the party's Kisan Morcha, has accused opposition parties of practicing vote bank politics while the BJP works for farmers' welfare. He stated that the party's farmers' wing will serve as a "bridge between the government and farmers."
